Oberwinder, Heinrich#
Oberwinder, Heinrich, b. Weilburg (Germany), 1846, d. Dresden (Germany), May 9, 1914. Pioneer of the Austrian workers´ movement, journalist. 1867 co-founder of the Gumpendorf workers´ educational association, a forerunner of the Austrian Socialist Party, SPOe. From 1869 contributor to the Communist paper "Volksstimme", 1870 sentenced to 6 months imprisonment in the "Wiener Hochverratsprozess" (a trial for high treason in Vienna). Later conflict with A. Scheu and split in the workers´ movement. Was suspected of being a government agent and left the country in 1878, worked abroad as a journalist.
