Pyhra#
Pyhra, Lower Austria, market town in the district of St. Poelten, alt. 298 m, pop. 3,082, area 66.74 km2, situated on the Upper Perschling river south-east of St. Poelten. - Supervisory station of Vienna´s second spring water supply system; construction firms, saw mill. - Parish church, one of the most important religious buildings in Lower Austria, built in 1300, but later altered, altarpiece by M. J. Schmidt (1772), splendid Renaissance tombs (16th century). Wald Castle, dating back to the 15th century, expanded in the 16th /17th centuries, art collection belonging to the Lamberg-Breuner family.
