Raketen#

Rockets, in military terminology the term refers to self-propelled missiles, powered by liquid or solid fuel; under Article 13 of the Austrian State Treaty of 1955, the Austrian Federal Armed Forces are prohibited from possessing any rockets. This provision was the Allied Forces' reaction to the use of V-weapons by the German wehrmacht during World War II. In the 1960s guided missiles for battlefield use (with a maximum range of 4 km) were developed; they were primarily defensive weapons, which is why the signatories of the State Treaty put up little opposition to their introduction into the Austrian armed forces. Since 1994 the Austrian Federal Armed Forces have been equipped with the Swedish guided missile "Bill" (anti-tank defence) and the French "Mistral" (anti-aircraft defence).
