Ramingstein#
Ramingstein, province of Salzburg, municipality in the district of Tamsweg, alt. 970 m, pop. 1,510, area 94.13 km2, small tourist centre (25,879 overnight stays in 1992) situated on the Mur River, in the south-eastern part of the Lungau region. - Protestant Youth Welfare recreation centre, Kendlbruck electric power station, production of building materials, transport enterprises. - Silver and ore mining from 1443 to 1791 (guided tours through the tunnels); parish church (1890-1894); ruins of Finstergruen Castle, Neue Burg (1900-1905, holiday home); Wintergruen Castle, destroyed by fire in 1841 except for the steward's house; Maria Hollenstein pilgrimage church and blast furnace (18th century) in Kendlbruck.
