Ranten, Styria, municipality in the district of Murau, alt. 951 m, pop. 1,114, area 38.84 km2, on the Rantenbach stream, in upper Styria. - Trade, summer tourism. - Gothic parish church (documented mention in 1155, built in the 15th  century), Gothic frescoes (around 1470, with additions around 1500, 1521), Reformational fresco cycle (around 1570) and fresco of St. Christopher (1517) on the exterior wall; Haufenhof farmsteads.
