Sausal#
Sausal, Styria, hill country between Sulm and Lassnitz, composed of Palaeozoic layers of shale and slate, part of the central Styrian shelf (Sausal shelf) which separates the East and West Styrian Basins; cultivation of wine, sweet (Spanish) chestnuts, fancy fruits and pumpkins. Main towns are St. Nikolai im Sausal in the north and Kitzeck im Sausal in the south. Highest peak: Demmerkogel mountain (671 m), with look-out point. Characteristic for the region is the "Klapotetz".
