Schützen am Gebirge#

Schuetzen am Gebirge, Burgenland, municipality in the district of Eisenstadt-Umgebung, alt. 130 m, pop. 1,347, area 21.20 km2, wine-growing village on the Wulka River, on the eastern foot of the Leithagebirge Mountains. - Provincial Hydraulic Engineering Authority. - Ancient artefact finds, old frontier guards settlement, formerly called "Gschiess". Baroque Catholic parish church with modern high altar, churchyard wall with old gravestones (17th  century), wayside shrines, animal reserve with hunting lodge (1794, today a ruin).
