Scherzer, Karl von#

Scherzer, Karl von, b. Vienna, May 1, 1821, d. Gorizia, Italy (then Goerz), Feb. 19, 1903, explorer, envoy. 1852-1855 in North and Central America, 1857-1859 took part in the Austrian "Novara" circumnavigation of the world and 1869 in the Austro-Hungarian expedition to Eastern Asia.
