Schiske, Karl Hubert Rudolf#
b. Gyoer, Hungary (then Raab), Feb. 12, 1916, d. Vienna, June 16, 1969, composer. Associated with the musical tradition of A. Schoenberg and strongly influenced by I. Stravinsky, P. Hindemith and the Dutch polyphony of the Renaissance. From 1952 professor of composition at the Vienna Musikhochschule (now University of Music and Performing Arts); among his students were I. Eroed, G. Neuwirth and E. Urbanner. Awarded the Grand Austrian State Prize in 1967.
