Schott, Heinrich Wilhelm#
Schott, Heinrich Wilhelm, baptised Bruenn (now Brno, Czech Republic) on January 7, 1794, d. Vienna, March 5, 1865, botanist. Participated in the Austrian expedition to Brazil in 1817-21; court gardener in Vienna from 1828, from 1845 director of the Court Gardens and the Imperial menagerie; in charge of the improvement of Schoenbrunn Gardens, parts of which were laid out in the English garden tradition. Student of Alpine flora, created the Belvedere Alpine garden, and enriched the court gardens in Vienna by importing plants collected in Brazil.
