Sommer, Ernst#
Sommer, Ernst, b. Jihlava, Czech Republic (then Iglau), Oct. 29, 1888, d. London (United Kingdom), Oct. 20, 1955, writer. Solicitor in Karlsbad from 1920; together with B. Adler founded the literary magazine "Die Provinz" 1924; emigrated to England 1938, British nationality 1951. Author of historical novels (e.g. "Die Templer", 1935; "Botschaft aus Granada", 1937), which bore hidden criticism of the crimes committed by the National Socialists. S.´s most famous book, the story "Revolte der Heiligen" (1944, 1948 under the title "Revolte der Wehrlosen") deals with the mass extermination of Jews.
