Stanz im Muerztal, Styria, municipality in the district of Muerzzuschlag, alt. 669 m, pop. 2,093, area 76.91 km2, on the Stanzbach stream, Fischbach Alps. - Wood-burning district heating plant; trading and manufacturing enterprises, some tourism. - Traditional hammer mill village. Parish church (1720-1730) by R. Horner with beautiful tabernacle and ornamented pulpit; late-Gothic filial church with splendid Baroque interior and Gothic figures, situated in the part of the village called Untere Stanz.
