Starhemberg, Helmhard Freiherr von#
b. Schloss Starhemberg (municipality of Eferding, Upper Austria), Feb. 17, 1572, d. Linz, Upper Austria, Jan. 1, 1631, President of the Hofkammer (court treasury). Studied at several universities (Tuebingen, Strasbourg, Padua, Siena), held administrative offices: from 1606 President of the Hofkammer. Played a leading role in the Protestant movement (1608 and 1619/1620), was arrested as "principal rebel" in 1621. Was responsible for recruiting J. Kepler to teach at the Landschaftsschule at Linz.
