Steinbach am Attersee, Upper Austria, municipality in the district of Voecklabruck, alt. 509 m, pop. 1,002, area 61.68 km2, summer tourist resort (142,760 overnight stays) on the eastern shore of Lake Attersee, at the foot of the Hoellengebirge mountains; landing stage for ships cruising the lake. - Recreation centre of the Federal Armed Forces, Methodist educational centre, recreational area, summer bathing establishment. Furniture industry, concrete works. - Late-Gothic parish church (1516), single-pillared nave with net ribbed and stellar vaults, neo-Gothic interior. House where G. Mahler composed his music. Summer concerts (since 1991).
