Thaya, Markt#

Thaya, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Waidhofen an der Thaya, alt. 484 m, pop. 1424, area 43.34 km2, agricultural town situated on the River Thaya, north of Waidhofen an der Thaya. - Construction industry and ancillary trades. - Parish church with Romanesque core, Gothic alterations in the 15th century, high altar (around 1765-1770); former hospital church (1689, today funeral parlour); pillory (2nd half of 17th century); fountain basin (16th /17th centuries); houses with historicist façades in the town centre; excavations of the deserted "Hard" settlement on municipal grounds.
