Trivialschulen#
Trivialschulen: name used especially in the 18th and 19th centuries in Austria and southern Germany for the Deutsche Schulen public elementary schools; the word trivial is considered to have been derived from the Latin word "trivialis" meaning "common", "public", or alternatively from Trivium meaning "three ways". The Trivialschulen were officially re-named Volksschulen in 1840.
