Uhudler#
Uhudler, local wine speciality from southern Burgenland (in the area around Heiligenbrunn), produced from grapes of American high-yield cross-breeds, banned from sale for a long time. Most typical are its light-red colour, intensive bouquet, lingering, pungent taste, and high acidity. Originally only produced for private use, now traded as a rarity. About 15 hectares were planted with Uhudler vines in 1992, about 60,000 l of wine are produced per year.
