Volders, Tirol, municipality in the district of Innsbruck-Land, alt. 558 m, pop. 3,549 (2,822 in 1981), area 32.42 km2, residential municipality (people commute mainly to Wattens) at the confluence of Voldertalbach stream and Unterinn river. - Municipal hall, library, Friedberg Castle entertainment centre, Servite convent with Oberstufenrealgymnasium secondary school, Volderwildbad medicinal spring (spa documented in 1463, buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries, bathing activities discontinued); building construction industry, sanitary installations production, steel construction, numerous business enterprises. - Largest cremation grave site of the urnfield cultures in the Tyrol at the western border of the village, remains of a settlement from the late Iron Age and finds from the Roman era at the "Himmelreich" (excavations from 1955, today an open air museum); Gothic parish church with late Gothic chancel, enlarged 1963-1965 by C. Holzmeister; Servite Convent (1692-1698) with Baroque church (founded in 1620 by H. Guarinonius, consecration in 1654), Rococo interior, dome fresco and altarpiece of high altar (1769) by M. Knoller, Rococo pulpit and wrought iron grill (17-18 century); Friedberg Castle (documented mention in 1268), keep (13th century), "Gothic room" with late Gothic tracery (around 1500), fresco (around 1510) in the knights´ hall; Renaissance estate at Aschach (1576-86); Hauzenheim estate (today a youth home).
