The southern shore of Lake Woerth is densely forested but sparsely populated, the north of the lake and its several peninsulas are flanked by hills. The main railway routes (section of the Southern Railway) and roads also run alongside the northern shore. Klagenfurt, with a bathing area and the miniature city of "Minimundus", is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Woerth. Further bathing resorts include Velden am Woerthersee (in the west), Poertschach am Woerthersee, Goritschach and Krumpendorf am Woerthersee (in the north), as well as Reifnitz and Maria Woerth (Pyramidenkogel look-out tower), which gave Lake Woerth its name.
