Waidring#
Waidring, Tirol, municipality in the district of Kitzbuehel, alt. 778 m, pop. 1,603, area 63.75 km2, bi-seasonal tourism (311,203 overnight stays in 1992), located west of the Strub Pass (memorial to the battles of 1800, 1805 and 1809 during the Napoleonic Wars), at the foot of the Lofer Mountains. - Leisure centre; Steinplatte skiing region. - Parish church (first documented mention 1381, new building in Baroque style 1757-1760) with Rococo baldachin altar (around 1760), Holy Virgin (end of 17th century), vault paintings and remarkable trompe l´oeil architecture. South of Waidring lies the Waidringer Oefen gorge with the Haselbach stream, Teufelsklamm gorge in the vicinity.
