Game Tags, Research Using: Some furred game - especially roe deer - has been marked with ear tags for research purposes since the beginning of the 20th century; this measure enables scientists to follow their movements, find out causes of death and determine the animals' maximum and average ages. 10,000 deer have been marked 1975-1995, the lives of 1,500 have been followed.
