weisse Jahrgaenge, (white age-group) term referring to people born after 1928 and before 1937, who were too young for conscription in World War II and too old to be liable for military service in the Second Republic (1st date of conscription in 1956 for those born in 1937); however, obligatory service in the Volkssturm and the Jugenddienst still affected people of these age-groups in 1944/45.
