The Qasr al Sarab is a good basis for safe hikes into the unspoiled sand dunes of the Rub al Khali. A day in the desert - from sunrise to sunset - allows for the time and leisure to recall the trip through the United Arab Emirates. Gigantic consumer worlds and original markets, traditional mud-walled houses and stunning architecture, contemplative rural life in the oases and the wasteful life of luxury - the Emirates form a fascinating travel destination full of contrasts between tradition and modernity, between dream and reality, between progress and decadence. And yet it is always the fascination of nature, that leaves behind the most lasting impressions with its endless creativity or, as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe already said: "Nature is the only book that provides great content on all its sheets.".
Das Qasr al Sarab eignet sich gut als Ausgangspunkt für gefahrlose Wanderungen hinein in die unberührte Sanddünenlandschaft der Rub al Khali. Ein Tag in der Wüste – von Sonnenauf- bis Sonnenuntergang – gibt Zeit und Muße, eine Reise durch die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate nochmals Revue passieren zu lassen. Gigantische Konsumwelten und ursprüngliche Märkte, traditionelle Lehmhäuser und atemberaubende Architektur, beschauliches Oasendasein und verschwenderisches Luxusleben – die Emirate bilden ein faszinierendes Reiseziel der Gegensätze zwischen Tradition und Moderne, zwischen Traum und Wirklichkeit, zwischen Fortschritt und Dekadenz. Und doch ist es immer wieder die Faszination der Natur, die mit ihrer schier unendlichen Schöpferkraft die nachhaltigsten Eindrücke hinterlässt oder wie schon Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wusste: „Die Natur ist das einzige Buch, das auf allen Blättern großen Gehalt bietet.“.
