Psychosexual development in puberty 61 With her last lines, Elfi shows her wish to continue the story in our next session. At this point she still needs her analyst at her side to think these thoughts and feel these feelings. The next day (she was coming to me three times a week) she started continuing the story. Since she had written the con- cluding sentence in the previous session, she requested me now to write the first sentence. Analyst: We went to sleep exhausted, sank completely into our memories of the dancing, and I had a dream: Elfi: . . . that our friendship would last forever, and that it would be more than a friendship. (Smiley) Analyst: I was very excited and woke up with my heart beating: What would hap- pen today? Elfi: I got up sleepily, it was exactly 7:00. I ran out of my hotel room and crept into my pal’s hotel room, because he had forgotten to lock his door. Analyst: My pal was still in bed, fast asleep. His brown arms and legs were all stretched out. Elfi: And his face was so sweet, he lay there so cute. I didn’t even want to wake him up, but I couldn’t help it, I was too excited what was going to happen today. Analyst: How should I wake him up? Should I whisper something in his ear? Tickle him? Call his name? I thought about it for a long time and looked at him closely. Elfi: Yes, exactly, I shook him first, then I tickled him – he’s very ticklish, and he began squirming and giggling. Analyst: I tickled him and began to laugh myself when I saw him squirming. Elfi: He said: “Let me sleep.” I said: “No, aren’t you excited about what we’re going to do today?” When he heard that, he jumped up and was embarrassed, since he only had a pair of long underwear on that was very sweet. It said on the long underwear: I love you, and I love you too and lots of faces and hearts and I laughed. Analyst: He blushed when I looked at him so lovingly. Then he looked at his long underwear and didn’t know what he should do. He ran quickly into the bathroom. Elfi: He took his clothes and locked the door and got dressed. Then he came out and was still blushing. He said to me: “Sorry, that you saw me that way.” I said: “Doesn’t matter, it was a sweet long underwear. Besides, I see my brothers walking around in their underwear.” To be Continued Tomorrow At 3. Sure enough. (Smiley)
