Alberschwende, Vorarlberg, market town in the district of Bregenz, alt. 721 m, pop. 2,818 (1981: pop. 2,504 ), 21.15 km2, winter sports town at the foot of Brueggelekopf mountain in the Bregenzerwald forest. - Tourism (48,249 overnight stays), A. power plant (built 1992, 97,600 MWh) and Langenegg power plant (built 1979, 227,500 MWh); timber processing. - First documented 1227, town symbol is an 800-year-old lime tree near the parish church; chapel (Merbod's Martyrdom, 1120).
