Eugen, Erzherzog von Österreich#

b. Židlochovice, Czech Republic (then Gross Seelowitz), May 21, 1863, d. Meran/Merano, (South Tyrol), Dec. 30, 1954, field marshal (1916); grandson of Archduke Karl. As the last (Knight) Grand Master of the Teutonic Order (1894-1923), he transformed it into a purely clerical order in 1929. 1914 commander of the 5th Army (Balkans), 1915 and 19171918 commander at the south-west front, 1916/1917 of the Tyrolean Army Group; 1919-1934 lived in Switzerland, then in Gumpoldskirchen, Vienna and Innsbruck.
