Gurgltal#
Gurgl Valley, Tirol, eastern headvalley of the Oetztal valley, drained by the Gurgler Ache river, which rises at the Gurgl Glacier. At Zwieselstein (alt. 1,470 m) the Gurgl Valley merges with the Venter Tal valley to form the Oetztal valley; main village is Obergurgl (alt. 1,907 m, in the municipality of Soelden). Obergurgl is the highest-lying parish in Austria and in earlier times farmland was cultivated at very high altitudes; today this land is only used as gardens.
