Hügel, Karl Freiherr von#
Huegel, Karl, Baron, b. Regensburg (Germany), April 25, 1795, d. Brussels (Belgium), June 2, 1870, expert in horticulture (called "Garten-Huegel"), made several study tours, pioneering explorer in Asian countries. Founder and 1st president (1837-1848) of the horticultural society in Vienna. Introduced new species of plants in Austria. His collection (32,000 items) is exhibited in the Natural History Museum in Vienna.
