Hermann von Kärnten#

Hermann von Kaernten (also Hermann the Slav), lived during the first half of the 12th century; translated astronomical and mathematical texts from Arabic into Latin. Studied at Chartres and worked in Southern France and North Spain.

Works#

Translation of the Elements of Euclid and of the Planisphaerium by Ptolemaios (stereographical projection); first translation of the Koran into Latin (with Robert of Chester); astronomical and philosophical works.
