Lambeck Lambeccius, Peter#

Lambeck (Lambeccius), Peter, b. Hamburg (Germany), April 13, 1628, d. Vienna, April 4, 1680, historian. Converted to Catholicism, 1663 director of the Vienna Court Library, which he reorganised (established a catalogue) and enlarged with his private collection (about 3,000 vols.). After looking through Ambras library, was commissioned by Emperor Leopold I to transfer another 2,000 vols. to Vienna. Wrote first chronological history of literature, 1659.
