Olympische Spiele#

Olympic Games: Austria has participated in all Olympic Games held in the Modern Age with the exception of the 7th Summer Olympics in Antwerp in 1920, where it was not invited. In relation to the size of Austria´s population, Austria has won numerous medals. On account of Austria´s alpine geography, participants have been especially successful at Winter Games (mostly in alpine ski disciplines). In 1933 and in 1951 Vienna was the site of International Olympic Committee meetings; Austria has twice hosted the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 and in 1976 (see table for medal winners).
