Eastern Orthodox and Independent Churches of Eastern Christianity: Beginning in the 16th and 17th centuries, Greek, Serbian, Romanian, Russian, and Bulgarian communities of the Orthodox Churches developed in Vienna, particularly from the time of Emperor Joseph II onwards. Today they belong to various patriarchies and metropolitanates.
