Semmering, Lower Austria, municipality in the district of Neunkirchen, alt. 950 m, pop. 730, area 8.67 km2, high-altitude health resort and bi-seasonal tourist region (142,012 overnight stays in 1992) on the Semmering Pass. - Training Institution for the Hotel and Catering Industry, golf facilities, training centre of OMV AG; K. von Ghega monument at the Semmering railway station; chairlift to the Hirschenkogel Mountain (1,322 m); T-bar lifts. - Hotels and villas dating from the turn of the century; Suedbahn Hotel (built in 1880 by F.
