St. Michael im Lungau#
St. Michael im Lungau, province of Salzburg, market town in the district of Tamsweg, alt. 1,075 m, pop. 3,387, area 68.78 km2, bi-seasonal tourist resort (356,726 overnight stays in 1992) situated on the River Mur, north of Katschberg Pass. - Family counselling centre, autobahn maintenance depot of the Tauernautobahn AG; timber processing, concrete and gravel works, glass manufacture until 1820. - Gothic parish church with murals (13th -15th century), late Gothic portal with Roman memorial medallion and Roman stone with 3 portrait busts; early medieval tombstone (the oldest Christian tombstone in the province of Salzburg) at the southwestern corner of the outside wall of the nave. St. Wolfgang's chapel (with former Gothic ossuary) with crypt; Gothic-Baroque filial church of St. Aegydius on the Speiereck mountain with a fresco of St. Christopher (around 1400); Romanesque-Gothic filial church at St. Martin with murals (around 1400) and Gothic altars; St. Anna chapel, former Gothic ossuary, with murals; Calvary.
