Steyregg#
Steyregg, Upper Austria, town in the district of Urfahr Umgebung, alt. 259 m, pop. 4,536, area 33.04 km2, opposite the confluence of the Rivers Traun and Danube, on the edge of the Steyregg Woods. - Building and construction centre, Lehrbauhof Oberoesterreich (training centre for building apprentices), district-heating plant; wood construction, gravel, automobile electronics plant, construction of ventilation systems, trades. - Town status in the late 15th century. - Originally Gothic parish church redesigned in Baroque style with frescoes (14th /15th century); old castle (first documented mention 1150), 16th century core, extended in the 17th century, castle chapel with stucco interior (1670); new castle (1778), extended in 1894; museum of local history and culture in the City Tower (Stadtturm); ruins of Pulgarn monastery, chapel (1512) with Gothic altar.
