Taurachtal#
Taurach Valley, province of Salzburg, name of 2 valleys in the Niedere Tauern Range which link the Salzburg part of the Ennstal valley ( Enns, River) with the Lungau region. Both valleys are drained by streams named Taurach. The northern Taurach Valley starts at the Radstaedter Tauern Pass (alt. 1738 m), the stream has its source north of the municipality of Obertauern, which is the main tourist resort (particularly winter sports) in the Taurach valleys. From Obertauern, the valley stretches out to the Ennstal valley at Radstadt (alt. 858 m). The southern Taurach Valley is the continuation of the northern Taurach Valley and extends from the Radstaedter Tauern Pass over the villages of Tweng (alt. 1233 m), Mauterndorf (1123 m) and Mariapfarr (1120 m) up to the Tamsweg Basin (alt. 1022 m). The second Taurach stream rises south of Obertauern.
