The small emirate stands for world records. However, like once in Babel one had totally overestimatd oneself with the "Tower of Dubai" in the new city centre "Downtown Dubai" Dubai . There was the financial crisis. Although the mega project was nearing completion, all seemed lost - until the rich uncle from Abu Dhabi stepped into the breach. With double-digit amount of billions of dollars he saved his neighbour from the financial collapse. In honour to the generous Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed the tallest building of our planet, the Burj Dubai was renamed "Burj Khalifa". Around the daring construction a huge artificial lake was built, as well as a monstrous shopping centre and an Arab town with souks, residences and apartments. The final stage envisages 320,000 apartments for 750,000 inhabitants. The only question is, where all these people are to come from. Nevertheless, Downtown Dubai quickly became the new centre of the metropolis, constantly busy and equipped with lots of atmosphere.
Das kleine Emirat steht für Weltrekorde. Doch mit dem „Turmbau zu Dubai“ im neuen Stadtzentrum „Downtown Dubai“ Dubai hatte man sich wie dereinst in Babel dann doch maßlos überschätzt. Dazu kam die Finanzkrise. Obwohl das Megaprojekt kurz vor seiner Fertigstellung stand, schien alles verloren – bis der reiche Onkel aus Abu Dhabi in die Bresche sprang. Mit einem zweistelligen Dollar-Milliardenbetrag rettete er den Nachbarn vor dem finanziellen Kollaps. Dem großzügigen Sheikh Chalifa bin Zayed zu Ehren wurde das höchste Gebäude unseres Planeten, der Burj Dubai in „Burj Chalifa“ umbenannt. Rund um die gewagte Konstruktion entstand ein riesiger künstlicher See, ein monströses Shoppingcenter und eine arabische Stadt mit Suqs, Villen und Apartments. Der Endausbau sieht 320.000 Apartments für 750.000 Einwohner vor. Fragt sich nur, wo all die Menschen herkommen sollen. Trotzdem entwickelte sich Downtown Dubai schnell zum neuen Zentrum der Metropole, ständig belebt und mit viel Atmosphäre ausgestattet.
