Icons#

The most important part in the interior of orthodox churches is a wall decorated with icons, the so-called iconostasis. It separates the public part of the church interior from the sanctuary behind it, as if it were a partition between the heavenly and the material world.
Wichtigster Baukörper im Inneren von orthodoxen Kirchen ist eine mit Ikonen geschmückte Wand, die sogenannte Ikonostase. Sie trennt den öffentlichen Kirchenraum vom Altarraum dahinter, gleichsam als Scheidewand zwischen himmlischer und irdischer Welt.
