Wilhelm August Jurek: Deutschmeister-Regimentsmarsch#
Fotos: Helmut Schubert, Graz
Wilhelm August Jurek (1870 - Vienna - 1934) wrote the Deutschmeister-Regimentsmarsch in 1893 for the Hoch- und Deutschmeister Nr. 4 Infrantry Regiment, which was the Home Regiment of Vienna. Until 1866, every Regiment had its own band but after that date the Infantry was the only branch which supported Austrian military music. Along with parades and other military events, these military bands took part in civilian musical life with concerts in parks which were open to everyone.
The illustrations show the Styrian Military Band directed by Mag. Hannes Lackner. The musical example is also played by this band. (E. Stadler)
