Götzens#
Goetzens, Tirol, municipality in the district of Innsbruck Land, alt. 868 m, pop. 2,738 (1991: pop. 3,261), area 9.72 km2, summer and winter tourism (84,162 overnight stays), situated southwest of Innsbruck, at the entrance of the Serraintal valley into the Inntal valley. - Sports Centre, private therapeutic centre, adult education centre, small commercial businesses. - Parish church (1772-1775, by F. Singer), one of the finest Rococo churches in Austria and Southern Germany, with a high altar by the workshop of Maulbertsch and a crib by G. Haller; Theresienkirche church (first documented in 1350); Vellenberg castle (first documented mention in 1166/1177), since 1580: ruin; buildings typical of the Inntal valley (18th century).
