Murmeltier#
Marmot, rodent approximately 50 cm in length, lives on Alpine pastures and meadows on sunny slopes with deep topsoil permitting the construction of extensive burrows; they live in colonies and hibernate for 6 to 7 months in nests in their burrows, which they pad with grass hay which they dry from August onwards. When alarmed, they emit a sharp, whistling call to warn the members of their colony.
