St. Andrä an der Traisen#
St. Andrae an der Traisen, Lower Austria, village in the district of St. Poelten, alt. 218 m, on the lower course of the River Traisen, cadastral district of the municipality Herzogenburg. - Nursing home of the City of Vienna; building and construction trade. - The monastery of the Augustinian Canons Regular established around 1160 was closed in 1783 and subordinated to Herzogenburg in 1787, the building (built between 1698 and 1719) has been used as an old peoples' home of the City of Vienna since 1828; Baroque collegiate church (1725-1729), today parish church, high altar piece and ceiling frescoes (around 1730) by P. Troger, side altar-piece by J. G. Schmidt; crypt with tombs of provosts, library (1705).
