Albert, Eduard#
b. Zamberk, Czech Republic (then Senftenberg), Jan. 20, 1841, d. Zamberk, Sept. 25, 1900, surgeon, studied under J. Hyrtl, professor in Innsbruck and Vienna; founded the Sanatoria San Pellagio near Rovinj (Croatia) and Lauffen (Upper Austria), first in Austria to introduce antiseptics. His handbook of surgery (4 volumes, 1877-1880) is based on the antiseptic treatment of wounds.
