Gornik, Erich#
b. Krumau (Česky Krumlov, Czech Republic), Aug. 4, 1944, physicist. Studied physics at the Vienna University of Technology 1968-72, where he subsequently became assistant teacher and habilitated. Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Innsbruck 1979-88, Professor of Semiconductor Physics at Munich University of Technology 1988-93, since 1993 Professor of Solid State Electronics and director of the Microstructure Centre of the Vienna University of Technology; his chief interests include plasmones and nanoelectronics. Awarded the Ludwig Wittgenstein Prize in 1997.
