Kammermusik#

Chamber Music: not only the large Austrian orchestras (the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Linz Bruckner Orchestra, the Niederoestereichische Tonkuenstler, the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra etc.) and the famous choral societies but also small ensembles have contributed enormously to the development of the Austrian music tradition. Since the early 19th century string quartets like the Schuppanzigh Quartet, the Rose Quartet, the Hellmesberger Quartet (today: Alban-Berg Quartet), the Hagen Quartet, the Kuechl Quartet, the Artis Quartet, etc.) have been long-established traditional music ensembles. In addition there are numerous specialised ensembles, in particular groups devoted to ancient music, that have acquired an international reputation (Concentus Musicus Vienna, Clemencic Consort, Concilium musicum, the Wiener Akademie, Gamerith Consort, Camerata Academica Salzburg etc.). The most important chamber orchestras in Austria are: the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the First Women´s Chamber Orchestra and the Innsbruck Chamber Orchestra (Camerata Academica).
