Tauplitz, Styria, municipality in the district of Liezen, alt. 896 m, pop. 1074, area 54.00 km2, winter sports resort (192,422 overnight stays) between Tauplitz Alp (1640 m) and Grimming mountain (2351 m), in the Styrian part of the Salzkammergut region. - Recreation centre, Tauplitz-Bad Mitterndorf ski jump (built in 1950, 190 m, ski-flying world championships 1996, ski-flying world cup every 2-4 years) at the foot of the Kulmkogels hill (1123 m); 80 km of cross-country ski runs (world cup 1990 and 1994); 4-passenger ropeway from Tauplitz to Tauplitz Alp (alt. 1925 m); important buildings (Naturfreunde house, Holl house, Linzer Tauplitz house). - Parish church (1785) with painting by M. J. Schmidt and Gothic standing cross (1440-1450). Grosssee, Steirersee and Schwarzensee lakes nearby; waterfalls on Grimming stream.
