Tulfes#
Tulfes, Tirol, municipality in the district of Innsbruck Land, alt. 923 m, pop.1,131, area 27.73 km2, bi-seasonal tourist resort by the Mittelgebirge mountain range to the south of the River Inn, at the foot of the Glungezer mountain (2,677 m), close to the town of Hall and to the northern portal of the Inntal tunnel. Tulfes has a village hall, late Gothic parish church (late 15th century) with Baroque tower, fresco of St Christopher (around 1600), Baroque high altar (documented mention in 1724) and Tirol´s oldest crib (documented mention in 1608); Borgias chapel (1677) in Volderwald and some other Baroque and Rococo chapels; houses with richly decorated and often painted gables (Bundwerk gables) and frescoes.
