Arbeitszeit#
Working Hours, the weekly working hours of an employee are generally limited to 40 hours by the Austrian Arbeitszeitsgesetz (Law on Working Hours). By means of a Collective Agreement, it is possible to adopt working-hour regulations which are more favourable for employees. To a limited extent, working overtime is provided for, but a premium is to be paid for these hours. Time compensation can also be agreed upon, as can flexible working hours. Special regulations apply to some professional groups (hospital doctors, etc.). There are no legal regulations of working hours for the self-employed.
