Herrand von Wildonie#
b. around 1230, d. between 1278-1282, politically committed Middle High German epic poet and poet. 1248-1278 mentioned in documents; came from the influential Styrian family of estate officials Wildon (named after Wildon near Graz on the River Mur); son-in-law of Ulrich von Liechtenstein; first poet of noble descent to write epic tales.
