Herzogstuhl#
Herzogstuhl (Duke´s Seat), monument of Carinthian medieval legal history located on the Zollfeld Plain; consists of two stone seats positioned back-to-back, one throne-like seat for the duke, facing to the east and another, probably slightly older, for the count palatine, facing to the west. The duke was installed on the Fuerstenstein ( Karnburg), it was on the Herzogstuhl that he took the oath, received homage and invested feudal tenure. First documented mention of this act in 1161. The last ritual installation on the Herzogstuhl took place in 1651. Ducal Coronation.
